Thanksgiving Day was spent at Biker Chick Andie's house for the second year in a row. Carole made an unbelievably good coffee ice cream/chocolate pie that nicely complimented the apple pies, ice cream and other desserts to fill out the nutritional pyramid.
Friday I went out to Mayo and made sure the boat was all Jiffy Wrapped and winterized (it was) and then did a 30 mile bike ride from Annapolis out to Sandy Point State Park, and then over to the Baltimore Annapolis Rail Trail and back. Beeyootiful weather - global warming is our friend in late November. The weather was so nice it was a shame not to be able to put the boat in the water - no more boating until March.
Friday evening we went to the Carlisle Club with Jacqui/Jim and Christine/Tom to see Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra and dance the night away. It is sort of like being transported back to a 1930's vintage nightclub, complete with chanteuse and costumed backup singers. Good food, too. I kept expected Ricky Riccardo to come bounding out a letting a few "Babbaloos" loose.
Saturday was for leaf blowing, playing around on the ham radio, seeing the Muppet Movie with Carole and Lauren, and then seeing our friends the Wyckoff's son Shaun and his new wife (well, decade-long girlfriend and recent wife) Maria perform at the Kentlands Mansion in Gaithersburg. Great flute and violin music - check them out here.
Sunday Carl and I hiked the Great Falls VA trail system, only to find that part of the trail had been washed out by the recent torrential rains. Not to be deterred, we ignored the trail closed sign and clambered down to the river and back up to bypass the washout. More phenomenal weather, much discussion about Carl's new Kindle (Carl never has to leave his couch anymore, it appears) and as usual we were rewarded with the classic view of the Upper Falls of the Potomac at about the 2/3 point in the 6 mile hike.
