Another "wintry mix" episode was forecast for today. Up at 6am, nothing falling. Drove out to the grocery store - not a drop, though cars coming from the south were wet. Check the weather radar - allegedly it is snowing here in Ashton, but I guess not reaching the ground. 0800 hiking planning call with Carl - we decide to bag it, since the Doppler radar (on the left, there) was showing the nasty stuff wasn't all that far away.
However, after the call I did a little surfing at TrafficLand and I couldn't see snow or ice on any local roads within 50 miles. So, quick like a bunny I changed into workout clothes and figured I run over to the health club and least get some exercise in. Of course, as soon as I got out in the driveway I realized it was actually sleeting outside. Good reminder that maybe sometimes looking out the window at Grandpa's Weather Rope is a lot more useful than surfing the net or watching the TV forecast by Al, the local hippy dippy weather forecaster.
